A little setup. A world of possibilities.

Your first little app
starts here.

You don’t need to be a developer. Bring an idea, a capable AI agent, and an iPhone. We’ll give your apps a home.

App Jam is an early prototype with limited iPhone installation. An App Store release is not available. Android and desktop host apps are planned; browser showcase tryouts are separate from installed iPhone apps.

01 / A home on your phone

Install App Jam and sign in.

For the current private prototype, use the installation link shared with you by the App Jam operator. iPhone enrollment may be needed before a private build will install. If you don’t have access, ask about prototype access. Do not send a password or device identifier by email.

Open App Jam → Settings → Account & agents. Create an account or sign in. Your phone is enrolled automatically. Use this same account on the website and when your agent asks you to approve a connection.

You can create your account on the website first and try the showcase in your browser while you get set up. Browser tryout data stays in that browser; it does not become your iPhone’s app data.

02 / A capable collaborator

Connect your agent.

Give your AI agent this short request. It can read the public builder skill without this repository or any previous conversation.

Help me connect App Jam, then build a small app for me.
Read https://oneapp-prototype.vercel.app/oneapp-builder/SKILL.md first.
Discover the tools you actually have. If App Jam isn't connected,
help me add https://oneapp-prototype.vercel.app/mcp using your supported MCP/OAuth setup.
Let me sign in and approve access in my own browser.
Never ask me to paste a password, access token, or recovery key.

The agent’s client should open App Jam sign-in and show an authorization screen. Review the access and approve the device you want it to use. Your agent may need a client reload before its new tools appear. Setup differs by client; connection recipes for Codex and Claude Code are available.

What about ChatGPT, GrokBot, Dots, or another agent?

The client needs a compatible remote MCP connection and OAuth flow. Support and product plans vary. Give it the skill URL and ask it to inspect its own available connections; a product name alone does not establish support. If it cannot authenticate or discover the tools, report the limitation instead of pasting credentials into chat.

Do I need an API key?

Creating local tools and offline games does not need your own AI-provider key in App Jam. Your agent may have its own subscription. An app that calls a paid model or another service may need a separate provider account. Enter those keys on your phone in App Jam’s API connections, never in a public package or ordinary hosted chat tool.

03 / Make something that fits

Tell it what you want.

Start small and specific. Say what you want to save, what you want to see, and where you plan to use it. Your agent can ask a few useful questions before it builds.

Make me a quiet offline reading journal. Let me save a book,
a short note, and a favorite passage. Use warm cream and forest
green, large type, and a simple search. Keep it on my phone.
Show me what it needs, then publish it to my App Jam device.

Your agent checks the connected phone’s capabilities and builds the right package. Open App Jam online to receive it. If a host update is required, the package waits safely while your working apps stay usable. “Queued” means waiting; it does not mean installed.

Once installed, local features work without the internet. Features using online models, live data, or external services still need connectivity. Agents do not run continuously inside the iPhone host.

04 / It gets to evolve

Start with a copy. Make it your own.

Browse the showcase, sign in, and choose “Make it mine”. Select your enrolled phone and open App Jam online. App Jam remembers your copy: “Already added” keeps repeat visits from creating duplicates.

Then ask your authorized agent to read that installed app’s source and change it. Keep the same app identity and storage; a new design should not mean losing your games, notes, or progress.

Find my App Jam Chess copy. Read its current source with my
permission. Add a gentle practice mode and a warm walnut board.
Preserve this app's identity, saved games, and settings.
Validate the update, publish it, and report the actual receipt.

A few things worth knowing

Your apps, your control.

How do backups work?

Encrypted app-design and app-data backups are enabled by default, with global and per-app switches. They run while App Jam is open, online and signed in. Save a recovery kit somewhere safe: account sign-in alone cannot decrypt backups on a new device. API keys and native account tokens are excluded. These are snapshots, not continuous two-device sync.

Read backup and restore limits.

Can I change or remove an app?

Yes. Use the app’s protected host menu to customize its name, icon, color or controls, and to remove it. Removal offers choices for keeping its design/data and deleting hosted backups. An authorized agent can also revise the app itself.

Where can I get help?

Email support@getappjam.com. Tell us your host version and the step that failed. Do not send passwords, API keys, recovery kits or personal app records. Read the privacy notice or manage your account.
